Why Unitas?
Unitas has been working with social service partners since its inception in 1997, providing community support workers for their housing and meal programs, shelters and residences, and rehabilitation programs. Our core values have been shaped by working closely with community partners who offer these programs to people dealing with homelessness, addictions, physical and mental health challenges.
Unitas is committed to supporting anti-oppression and harm reduction training principles. Our overall approach is based around a harm reduction model for client service, and by acknowledging and responding to the Toronto Drug Strategy which is based on four integrated parts – prevention, harm reduction, treatment and enforcement.
Community Support Workers
Unitas provides in-home care and personal support workers for families searching for private care for their loved ones. We have many qualified support workers who have years of experience caring for seniors, and those with special needs in their homes. If you are looking for anything from personal/nursing care, companion care, housekeeping, respite, palliative, 24 hr care, errand and appointment services, meal prep, or quick wellness check drop-ins for your loved ones, we can help.
In turn, we also partner with long term care residences and health facilities to provide personal support workers and relief staff. Providing the services and care that healthcare sites require to maintain high level quality of service, our trained staff step in to help fill those gaps and help your organization to meet growing client needs. Caregivers and Personal Support
Unitas provides cleaning staff for commercial/office buildings, personal residences, residential housing programs, and for organizations requiring bio-hazard cleaning services.
We also can provide maintenance people for basic repairs and hospitality workers with Smart Serve certifications to assist in food service, kitchen and food preparation.
Cleaning, Maintenance and Hospitality Services
Unitas has licensed, uniformed security guards available for any industry and sector, and will provide safety and protection to your people and premises.
We specialize in security staffing for social service programs and understand the unique needs required in those environments. It is through this experience working with a variety of residential populations, that we have become an integrated part of serving GTA social service providers. Our staff are all trained in Harm Reduction, and have worked in community service roles requiring them to interact effectively with the public, following all protocols for handling incidents safely and respectfully.
Security Guards and Safety Staff
Unitas is now offering instructor-led trainings and workshops for organizations in the areas of CPR/First Aid, Harm Reduction, Mental Health First Aid, Diversity and Inclusion, Crisis Intervention, Conflict Resolution, LGBTQ2S+ Awareness, Indigeneous Affairs, and more. We can organize customized trainings for your organizations or join our scheduled courses when they’re available in your area.
